Sure, School breaks are usually cool when you and the family are jetting off somewhere fun, but what about those of us who decide to stay close to home? Are we not entitled to enjoy some rollin’ good times, too? Short answer: Yes! Indeed, we are. So I’ve put together smart tips for parents to help transform family stay-cations into… yay-cations? (Yeah. I know, kind of cheesy, but stick with me here.)
1- Plan ahead for your stay-cation
Spontaneity can be fun for a day, but if we’re talking a full week over Spring/Eid/Summer Break, having a plan can save you from running out of ideas, scrambling to find activities, or losing out on events with limited tickets. Or worse, falling into routines where you’re just hanging out at home on the computer while the kids watch videos.
Even better, kids will love have a hand in planning your family stay-cation events. Ask yourself questions like:
-Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but never made the time? -Is there a special event, playspace, or activity that’s just a short drive away?Ect
Then, make it legit by creating an actual list of Things To Do and Things To See on this vacation.
And don’t forget lots of talk about how much you’re looking forward to it. Instead of, We’re just sticking around here for Spring/Eid/Summer break, try hyping things up with, I can’t wait for our rad stay-cation to begin!
2-Act like tourists in your own town
Indulge a little and book a night or two at a local hotel for a grand family sleepover, with promises of room service, pay-per-view movies, big bubble baths,or a glass wall swimming pool.
There’s a trick to really enjoy your stay , Two words: kids’ club. They keep the kids safe, you know they’re close by (but not too close) and, best of all, they’re completely FREE if you’re staying the night. We were staying in Dukes the palm they had a Special offer! for Eid
and an amazing kids club , pool and a shaded playing area .
3-Take a break from your online routine or it’s not actually a stay-cation.
Make the staycation a true break from the everyday by altering or, in some cases, completely mixing some of your usual routines. If it’s not going to be too disruptive, consider letting your kids stay up past their bedtimes.
Also, the same goes for you! Set your email to an out-of-the-office or vacation notification , log off all your social media platforms so you don’t feel obligated to respond to emails or messages . This makes a tremendous difference.
4-Happy Kids, Happy Families
A staycation can be a great way to enjoy a vacation without spending a lot of money. And if you plan your meals right, you can also eat well and spend less.
During our stay- cation, if you have a small kitchen available it will be great so you can cook your own meals and not feel like you have to eat out — unless you want to.
you can cook ahead only if you usually do your cooking in advance and store your meals in the freezer or refrigerator. And if you’re like me, the last thing I want to do in a stayvaction is to cook you can have a croissant with turkey and cheese , a pita bread with hummus and grapes ,fruits and crackers ,fruits and veggies it will be simple filling and easy to pack.
A slice of pizza is always a great choice too , it is a family friendly food as well, will be great while watching a family movie.
5- Help Your Kids Learn Something New
Maybe you've always yearned to teach your loved ones how to swim , ride a bike , read a story or your child have always wanted to be able to do a cartwheel. Devote your stay-vcation to learning a new skill – you can help your children learn , you can also motivate them , and give them feedback.
One thing we know for sure that Stay-vcations are here to – well – to stay. We can only speculate, but it seems likely that the stress and expense of life today and the limited leisure time for modern families play major roles .If you would like to share with us how did you spend your stay-vacation drop a comment below xxx
